ResumoThe effectiveness of test cases design and the time allocation to perform software testing are yet a dilemma. This article presents an acceptance test strategy addressing the problem of selecting effective test cases taking into account pressure imposed by project schedule. The original concept of operational profile was extended adding service concept and usage of architectural elements. The proposed evolutionary approach fits the needs of the different testers usually involved in the space mission integration stages. The strategy, based on the new approach, guides the test selection in the space mission embedded software acceptance process along which the software component is evolutionarily encapsulated. The strategy is illustrated in the acceptance of the satellite payload embedded software component supplied by a Brazilian software industry. This research is part of the Space Embedded Software Quality - QSEE project being carried on National Institute for Space Research INPE.
